Earliest record of polo" in Persia is to be found in the works of Al-Jahiz who died in A.D. 869: from "Ball, Bat and Bishop" by Robert W. Henderson. This picture depicts womeni the fifteenth century in Persia playing the game. There are many references to women playing this game, one of the earliest being the Persian poet Nigami (1126-1180 A.D.)"
