487. A Brooch and Tartanware Box, England, Circa 1900.

The oval white carnelian framed by an undulating 9 karat gold frame, mounted and centered with woven hair framed similarly, together with a Stuart tartanware box inscribed on the reverse "Stone in Aunt Mary Maudsley's brooch is white carnelian given to me by Mary Aug. 1936". Brooch: 2" l.

The chain links punched with stars and triangles, hung with a locket embossed with forms framing a shield, the reverse engraved in script "MAR 1878", opening to reveal the photographic portrait of a child on one side, the other woven with hair. Locket: 1 1/2" l., Chain: 16" l.
