Texts are French poetry from the Middle Ages to the Surrealists. Text in French. Bound in full burnt orange French calf with title stamped in black on the spine, the front and back covers have an unusual abstract-surrealist design by Mario Prassinos in gilt with a black Rorschach type figure in the center. Well-made clamshell box covered with black silk and black polished calf spine with the title in gilt. Unusual realist/surrealist illustrations.

295. Three Persian Manuscript Pages.
Watercolored Persian manuscript pages with some gold coloring and handlettering to verso of each page; the largest (13" x 8") depicting the exchange of currency among five men, one seated on a platform under a canopy in a garden holding two bags of gold. The medium-sized page (9 1/4" x 6 1/2") shows a young prince and his lover seated on a rug next to a lotus-filled stream. A female attendant offers a refreshment. The border is embellished with floral designs and another young prince holding a flower observing the scene. The smallest page (9" x 5") details a royal couple in a more passionate embrace while a female servant looks on. The background shows a river or small lake with swans.
