103. Girl with Water Lilies (1928) A Very Large and Rare Bronze Sculpture by Herbert Adams (American, 1858-1945)

Inscribed Herbert Adams [Copyright] SC. MCMXXVIII, and with the foundry mark Gorham Co. Founders.

A Florentine Renaissance style maiden with her hair parted in the center and held by a ribbon, striding forward, clutching the drapery of her robe to her breast as it falls in folds around her body, forming deep folds around her back, her left arm bent at the waist where she holds her draped robe and a small bunch of water lilies (some open, some still buds), her sandaled feet emerging from beneath the drapery. Raised on a squared base. Bronze with green/black patination.
