The reverse of the mirror finely carved with stylized flowers and foliage, centering a chrysanthemum framed by a bough of leaves, flanked on either side by songbirds perched in fruiting foliage, together with original fitted wood case.

The rectangular hinged form applied with an ivory veneer on recto and verso, the lid centering a carved cornucopia issuing shells and scrolls, opening to reveal a purple satin interior fitted with two pockets inscribed "won Oct. 2nd 1880 by John Willis, Presented 2nd August 1880," the brass fittings engraved with scrolling foliage.
