510. A Persian Sarouk Carpet, 20th Century

Woven with an eight pointed central medallion extended on two ends by palmettes and issuing thin branches of stylized leaves and palmettes, all in an oval field with a meandering branch border, the corners of the central field each woven with a palmette, inside a primary cartouche border of branches and palmettes, all in muted coral, black, dark blue, periwinkle, creme, and hints of pink and green. Wool pile on cotton warp. 79" x 105".
