Colin was born in Bordeaux and studied under Pierre Lacour (1745-1814), a highly versatile artist who himself was a student of Vien and taught for years at the Bordeaux Art Academy. Although these two picturesque landscapes by Colin were painted at the midpoint of the 19th Century, they possess a strong 18th Century flavor both in the way the paint is handled, and in the careful, almost architectural manner by which the landscape is constructed.
Condition: Excellent, very minor foxing on one.
