Decorated Text of the Declaration of Independence

Lithograph after engraving by William Woodruff with fascimile text of the Declaration of Independence surrounded by decorated medallion presidential portraits of Washington, John Adams and Jefferson, surmounted by eagle and enhanced with cornucopiae and banners, and by medallions containing the arms of the thirteen original states. Printed in foliage below the bottom medallion: "Lith de M. Scalloped top. Sheet size approximately 12" x 13', framed size 15 1/2" x 16 1/2".The document makes mention of a John Young of the County of Cumberland and a George Gr[amo].

German Birth and Baptism Certificate


April 17, 1830
A framed Birth and Baptismal Certificate from 1830; 17" x 14 1/2". In German. Last stanza reads: "I am baptized, so if I die/ why should I be saddened by a full grave?/ I know my fatherland and my heritage/ That I have a God in heaven/After my death I am ready' For the joys of heaven and the clothes of an angel."

Last Will and Testament of J. Daniel Furnas of County Cumberland, England


Written on vellum, dated July 13, 1741. Sheet size approximately 27" x 32". Framed size (double glazing) 31 1/2" x 36". Furnas was from the Parish of Wigton in Cumberland County. Wigton is situated 11 miles south west of Carlisle on the road to Maryport. Wigton was in existence before the Norman Conquest and in 1262 received its first market charter. One of the witnesses of the will was a Thos. Jefferson. At lower center is another, smaller document on vellum measuring 8" x 7" which is dated October 27, 1741 and represents the recording of this will in the County seat of Carlisle. This document overlaps the bottom portion of the will.

Letter Regarding Admiral Byrd Antarctic Expedition II


Boston: May 26, 1933
Letter to the Chamber of Commerce in Seattle, Washington from the Medical Officer of Admiral Byrd's Antartic Expedition II. G.O. Shirey, M.D. is "checking up" on dehydrated foods to take with the expedition. He was advised by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that a company located in Seattle manufactured a "Happy Home" brand of dehydrated goods. Shirey is looking for free food, (I.e., :" a supply of their products for trial") in exchange for publicizing the product line. Letter is framed. 11 1/2" x 9"
