Landscape with Lake.
oil on canvas, signed lower left, framed.
13" x 18".

3,000/5,000

Lambinet was a successful landscape and animal painter who trained under Drolling, Bossier, Vernet, Corot and Daubigny. He exhibited regularly at the Salon between 1833 and 1878, won medals in 1843, 1853, and 1867, and was named a knight of the Legion of Honor in 1867. Lambinet's work is represented in numerous European museums including Amiens, Avignon, Besancon, Brest, Cambrai, Dieppe, Dublin, Glasgow, Montpelier, Moulins, Mulhouse, Sheffield and Tours. His work possesses a very liquid quality, with many nearly opalescent passages where several colors are blended and nuanced.

Condition: minor flaking, heavy varnish and imbedded grime, crazed paint film, partial cleanings evident, relined, surface soil, small repaired holes.
