372. A Coffee Can and Saucer, Early 19th Century

The cylindrical can transfer decorated in black with cornucopias centering a charging boar, the saucer transfer decorated in black with cornucopias, harps, and horns centering a Dutch landscape with peasants tilling the land, each rimmed in black, with a thick blue-green glaze, impressed "Mal". Saucer 4 1/2" d., can 2 1/8" h.

Comprising a Royal Doulton "George Washington" plate transfer decorated with an image of Washington, the back stamped with Royal Doulton mark above the George Bowman Co. mark, together with a Robert Burns historic plate, the reverse stamped with S. Hancock & Sons mark. 9 1/4" d., 9 3/4" d.

374. An Assorted Lot of Blue and White Transfer Printed Wares, England, Late 19th/Early 20th Century

Comprising a Ridgeways flared tankard, decorated with a rustic landscape, floral relief, and blue strap handle, stamped "Venice Ridgeways England"; a Wedgewood stoppered carafe transfer printed with a waterscape, stamped "Manufactured for Humphrey Taylor & Co. London 1770 Distillers of Famous Liqueurs By Wedgewood; a Royal Crown Derby Vase painted with a Dutch landscape, stamped in green with 1921 date mark; and a Doulton Burstem blue and white transfer decorated biscuit barrel, flecked in gold, filled with plated silver metal mounts, stamped on the bottom. Mug 4 3/4" h., carafe 7" h., vase 6 1/4" h.

Each transfer decorated in brown with a diaper pattern, stylized flowers, and landscapes enclosed in cartouches, stamped on the bottom in brown with company and registration mark. Jug: 11 1/2" h.

Comprising a pair of Haviland plates enamelled with a grey ground and puce shells, stamped in green "Haviland & Co."; an octagonal plate enamelled with a light brown ground and yellow shells; a Haviland plate painted in shell pink, brown, and green stamped Haviland & Co. Limoges"; a plate painted with a brown ground and pink shells; and one pink and one blue plate with details picked out in brown. 8 1/2" d. average.

Modeled to appear as if constructed of stitched leather, glazed brown and mounted with a sterling rim, the jug impressed with Doulton Lambeth England mark, maker's mark "NG", and registry mark 158283, the silver rim hallmarked London 1891, maker's marks "CS" and "FS". 6 1/2" h.

378. A Royal Doulton Stoneware Cheese Barrel, England, Circa 1900

The cylindrical form glazed in mottled blues, greens, and browns, impressed "Royal Doulton England" with patent number 194168, surmounted by a lid fitted with a metal spring closure, together with another baluster-form stoneware cheese pot, glazed in mottled blues and tans, surmounted by a lid fitted with a brass screw closure, unmarked. Doulton 5 3/4" h., 5" d., other 5 1/2" h., 5" d.

The globular body flaring into a cylindrical neck, slip decorated with arabesque foliage in taupe, white, and blue on a chocolate ground, the interior of the neck glazed taupe, the base incised with W Baron monogram, stamped with Doulton Lambeth mark and 1883 year mark. 8 1/4" h.
