Lintott is best known for his work in still life, for his theatrical figures, and his portraits. He was born in Ridgeway, New Jersey, and received most of his artistic training in Paris. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, at the Academie Julien, at the Sorbonne, and with J. P. Laurens, Benjamin-Constant, and M. E. Cuyer. His thoughful arrangements of still life as well as his highly sensitive portraits won him much acclaim during his lifetime.
Lintott's work is represented in numerous important European, American, British and Australian collections including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Louvre and Jeu de Paume in Paris, the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Ghent Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Gallery of New South Wales.
Lintott authored a how-to book entitled "The Art of Water Color Painting" in 1920.
