This painting is possibly by John Foote, Jr. (American, 1912-1968). The Twilight of the Gods is the last and most amazing of the four operas that Richard Wagner composed having been inspired by the Teutonic hero Siegfried. In his "Gotterdammerung", Wagner brought down the world of gods and heroes in fire and water. The opera may well have inspired this painting.

Condition: surface soil.
