The ovoid form incised with the figure of a stylized bird, applied with a pronounced eye rim, glazed red, turquoise, blue, and green, the reverse impressed "Madoura Plein Feu Edition Picasso", numbered I 106, 116/200 in black.

Picasso created thousands of ceramic pieces between the years 1947 and 1971. Some of these were produced in limited editions and with exclusive rights by Madoura Pottery in Vallauris. This lot and the following three are examples of ceramic designs Picasso made expressly for Madoura.
