Double matted, actual plate size 9 3/16" x 7 3/8". Window size 10 3/8" x 8 3/8". Mat size 16 1/2" x 14 1/2". George Edwards was an English Naturalist who served as the Librarian of the Royal College of Physicians from 1733. He drew animals for Sir Hans Sloane and was taught by Mark Catesby how to etch the plates for his own books on natural history.
