Civil War Letter. December 1861. Harper's Ferry, VA.
Advancing Towards Leesburg…

"We are about to make another advance towards Leesburg the infantry has been filing along all day and we are waiting on the artillery to start. I was out with a scouting party the other day to the place where we had the skirmish and found there was eight rebels killed. The country people gathered them up and buryed them, some of them had friends living close by." "It is the opinion here the war cannot last long."
