323. Mumei, Suriage, Cut Down, Hira Zukuri Tanto.

Uchi-zori style exhibits suguha hamon, hkikake at the boshi and itame hada together with a cut down nakago and one mekugi-ana hole. This tanto has a silver foil habaki, was made sometime between 1400 to 1500 and appears to be a very good quality blade. The Koshirae is comprised of ensuite matched fuchi, kashira, menuki, koiguchi, kuikata and kojiri of shakudo nanako fittings with gold, silver, copper and sentoku accents of chickens, birds and flora in the style of the Ishiguro metalsmiths, all mounted on a roiro lacquered tsuka and saya. The mounts circa 1830 to 1860.
