This engraving and the two others by Sadeler/de Vos in this sale were illustrations for the Illustrated Bible, "Thesaurus veteris et novi testimenti" first published in 1585 by Gerard de Jode, and published in a revised 17th-century edition in Amsterdam by Claes Jansz. Visscher and later by his sons.
The print depicts the following chapter and verse: "And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt."
