422. A Profusely Carved Settee, Chinese, 19th Century

The backrest carved with flying birds and iris enclosed by a crestrail carved with two dragons centering a flaming pearl, the arms carved as dragons consuming pearls raised on bowed supports, the dragon's eyes set with ivory orbs. The seat carved with floral medallions and fretwork, raised on four heavily carved paw legs connected by carved stretchers, centering a grotesque mask. 43 1/4" h., 49 1/2" w., 21 1/4" d.
