Viennese-born Josef Buche was a genre, portrait and landscape painter active in Munich and Vienna. He studied with Edward von Engerth and Leopold Mueller at the Fine Arts Academy of Vienna and with Matejko in Cracow. His work is characterized by a rich warm palette.
