374. A Very Large Persian Carpet, 19th Century

The central field woven at each end with an urn facing towards the center, issuing a tall vertical tree of life consisting of palmettes, small cypresses, and flowers, meeting at the center as a rosette, all surrounded by a field of leaves, small flowers, cypresses, and palmettes. The primary border consists of winding vines intertwined with palmettes and secondary meandering borders with flowers, all in plum, navy, medium blue, light mustard, green, and dark red. Wool pile on cotton warp. 11' x 29'6".
