376. A Persian Afshar Carpet, 19th Century

The central field woven as cypress trees with a palmette at the base of each tree issuing thick branches of palmettes and buds on each side. Each tree is also issuing a vertical stem of flowers and palmettes from its peak, all inside three primary borders of stylized flowers, all in navy, red, medium blue, creme, yellow, brown, and orange. Wool pile on wool warp. 60" x 100".
