| 401. A Small Indian Agra Carpet, early 20th Century
The central field woven with two cypress trees surrounded by two other naturalistically woven trees with numerous long branches with leaves, blossoming flowers and palmettes. Some of the branches are supporting birds of various sizes and in various positions. There is also a single leopard, seated and pawing upwards towards some branches. Near each corner is a woven bird issuing another bird from its beak, all inside three concentric meandering borders, the primary border woven with allternating palmettes and birds, all in navy, creme, ochre, black, reddish pink, and teal. Wool pile on cotton warp. 36" x 39".

Condition: good, pile worn in a strip down the center from use, some pile and warp worn at both ends, snaps have been sewn on the back for hanging, small repair near border.
