415. A Caucasian Kazak Carpet, early to mid 20th Century

The central field woven with three large connecting diamonds, each centered by a simple hook medallion. Each diamond is bordered by hook motifs, all in a field of stylized flowers, flanked on either side by a zig-zag line that runs the length of the central field, bordered by hook motifs, inside two primary borders, the first with serrated leaves and triangles, the second woven as a meandering border on the long sides, one end border woven with X and # motifs, and the other end border with a flower and cartouche pattern, all in pinkish red, creme, orange, medium blue, and brown. Wool pil on wool warp. 58" x 88".
