51. Barthold Willem Floris van Riemsdyk (Dutch, 1850-1942)

Riemsdyk was born in Maastricht and studied painting in Amsterdam with G. H. Graus. He worked as a building engineer, an official in the Office of Internal Affairs, served as keeper of the Prinsenhof Museum in Delft (1888-1929) and general director of the Rijksmuseum. He was also an amateur Draftsman, etcher and sculptor. He died in Amsterdam. The permanent collection of the Amsterdams Historisch Museum contains some views of Amsterdam by Riemsdyk.
