35. A Silver Gilt and Niello Travelling Set, Moscow, Russia, Makers Mark E.E.

Comprising; a knife, fork, and spoon decorated with stylized scrolling foliage on recto and verso, the knife fitted with a steel blade stamped under the Imperial warrant "Yakovleva", all pieces hallmarked with the town mark for Moscow and Maker's Mark "ee"; together with the original fitted case. Note: The maker's mark "ee" is unidentified (see Postnikova-Loseva, Moscow, "Nauka", 1983, p. 214, #2436), but numerous works by this silversmith are on display in the State Museum of History in Moscow. Knife: 10 1/4" l. Fork: 8 1/2" l. Spoon: 8 1/2" l.

36. An Unusual Brass Triptych, Central Russia, Mid-19th Century

Painted with Christ Pantocrator against an ochre ground, the left wing painted with Saint George on a white charger, the right wing painted with Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky clad in armour, the image of Christ surmounted by a dome engraved with the "all seeing eye of God," and two seraphim, the frame cast with a stylized foliate pattern. 21" h., 10 1/4" w. (open).

One cross form engraved with stylized strapwork, surmounted by an engraved medallion depicting the eye of God, hallmarked by Prokopy Nikitin; together with a cross form engraved with stylized strapwork, surmounted by a medallion engraved with the eye of God, hallmarked by Andrei Postnikov. Comprising four pimages on Imperial crest water marked paper, each stamped on the top right corner, dated 1740, the last page signed by Her Imperial Majesty Empress Elizabeth and dated August 18, 1743. Note: This document is a "Ukaz" or instruction, the first page reads: "Ukaz of Her Imperial Majesty Empress of All Russians..." the rest is in old slavic and needs translation. 13" x 8" approximately.
