398. A Large Pair of Meissen Porcelain Busts of Children, 19th Century
From the original models by J.J.Kaendler,each modeled as the face of an innocent youth, both wearing bonnets, one with simple white bonnet, the other with elaborate floral and gilded decoration and a feather, each with brightly colored bodices, crossed sword marks in underglaze blue, incised numbers 2744 impressed 28, numbered 6 in iron red. 9 1/2" h. including feather.
The original models are the two eldest children of Louis, The Dauphin of France,1729-1765.

In baluster form, cream ground with earthenware colored and glazed vine motif on base and band on each side; all culminating in a green-brown gazed and pierced lip with acorn and leaf motif. Stamped on bottom of each "H.B. Choisy" and engraved "1736 P.I. M." Each also engraved lower base "SG." 11" h., 9" w.

Comprising; twelve dinner plates ( 10 1/2" d.), twelve dessert plates (8" d.), eleven fruit bowls, twelve boullion cups and saucers, eleven tea saucers, a gravy boat with attached stand, a square cake plate, two oval bowls, and an oval platter, all molded with a scrolling foliage pattern and stamped on the reverse in green Old Chester Royal Cauldon Made in England; together with fourteen Wedgewood "Patricia" pattern cups and fourteen saucers molded with a similar pattern stamped Wedgwood Etruria and Barlaston, and a Haldon cream jug.
