398. A Large Pair of Meissen Porcelain Busts of Children, 19th Century

From the original models by J.J.Kaendler,each modeled as the face of an innocent youth, both wearing bonnets, one with simple white bonnet, the other with elaborate floral and gilded decoration and a feather, each with brightly colored bodices, crossed sword marks in underglaze blue, incised numbers 2744 impressed 28, numbered 6 in iron red. 9 1/2" h. including feather.

The original models are the two eldest children of Louis, The Dauphin of France,1729-1765.
