The hinged lid rectangular form depicting in high relief a fragment of the work by I. Repin, Zaporozhean Cossaks writing a letter to the Turkish Sultan, the interior gilt and stamped in Cyrillic with maker's mark DB, the Russian silver standard is overstruck with a later Soviet standard of 875. 4" x 5".

Celebrating the bicentennial of St. Petersburg, cast with busts of Nicholas II and Peter the Great on recto, the verso cast with a figure of Mother Russia holding a shield bearing the St. Petersburg coat of arms in one hand, a laurel coronet in the other, bourne on clouds accompanied by the imperial eagle, over the skyline of St. Petersburg, bearing the dates 1703-1903, inscribed on the rim "In Memory of the Foundation of the City of St. Petersburg, May 16", together with a fitted red leather case bearing the St. Petersburg coat of arms. 2 1/2" d.
