Jean-Paul Riopelle (1923- ), Canadian abstract painter, sculptor, and graphic artist. Born in Montr�al, where he studied art, moved to Paris in 1946. Riopelle's canvases are painted improvisations. After 1950, he squeezed thick strips of paint from the tube, building up mosaic-like patterns of brilliant intensity that also included large areas of white, which create a free, spacious effect. Signed, Limited Edition of 150. Color lithographs and black & white photographic illustrations. Also includes a folded 24.5" x 30.75" lithograph.
