Painter and printmaker Joseph Marguiles was a student of the well-known etcher, Joseph Pennell, and also trained at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris. He was a member of the Art Students League in New York, and specialized in painting moving, and very personal portraits of world-weary figures.
