697. A Ludwigsburg Chinoiserie Chocolate Cup, Cover, and Stand, Germany, circa 1795

Painted in polychrome enamels with scenes of courting Chinamen, enclosed within a gilt lavender and green frame, the details, rims, handles, and floral knop picked out in gilt, the cup and saucer painted in iron red with crowned interlocking "C"s. Cup: 4 3/4" h., 3 3/4" d. saucer: 6 1/4" d.
