700. A Vienna Coffee Can and Saucer, circa 1780

The can painted in polychrome enamels with scene of an amourous lady and her lover, enclosed within a gilt frame on a chocolate ground, together with a saucer painted with a centered gilt medallion surrounded by three exotic birds painted en grisaille on a chocolate ground, each with underglaze blue hive mark. Cup 2 1/4" h., saucer 5 1/2" d.
