884. A Persian Serapi Carpet, 20th Century

The large rectangular central field enclosing a cartouche shaped fiel, which centers a small cartouche medallion that is extended in all directions by stylized palmettes and vines of flowers, the four corners of the rectangle filled by tops of cypress trees that point to the center, all enclosed by numerous borders, the primary border made up of cartouches and stylized palmettes, all in navy, creme, light blue, rusty orange, mint, and teal. Wool pile on cotton warp.
