283. A Converse 1912 Wooden Box Car

Red and green colors on sides include such sayings as "Live Stock Good Care," "Express Co. Quick Time,1912," "Return This Car to Red Robin Farm." Two sliding doors open to provide storage for 17 free standing wooden farm animals (two chickens, one donkey, four sheep, three horses, three pigs, four cows). box car 19 3/4" l., 9 1/2" h.

Operated with Knob on side, four simultaneous actions: minkey nods head, raises both legs, raises arms holding binoculars to head, all while snake sticks its head out of the basket. 5 1/4" l., 5" h.

287. A Very Early Rich Toy

Actually marked "Rich Made Toys, Sterling, Illinois" on decal and on horse's neck. This wooden horse is articulated and pulls a metal farmer's wagon with wooden wheels. Horse's tail seems to be missing. 15 1/2" l.

288. A Gibbs #35 Never Stop See-Saw

Is made of hand painted tin, produced from 1912-31, interesting operation, children see-saw to the bottom and then invert the toy and the children repeat their see-saw tot he bottom (similar to a salt/sand egg timer). 15" h.

292. A Kobe Toy, circa 1980s, by Craftsman

A newer toy, associated with the original company, however the newer company is no longer making new toys in the style of the original. When the last craftsman died production of the old craft ceased. Three action when side knob is turned, fan waves, mouth opens/closes, and head sways back/forth. All paper accessories in Japanese since these toys were never exported.
